Course number: IPD 2403-A

Overview: Visual Effects artists often find themselves moving abroad to work on exciting projects for renowned studios. Vancouver is a very important part of the global Visual Effects Industry. Many of the leading studios have setup shops in this north western town to take advantage of the tax credits the city offers, and to be closer to the many film and television projects being shot here. Join us for a one week trip to Vancouver for a series of studio tours and lectures featuring outstanding visual effects artists and industry leaders.

This course will help students and recent alumni learn more about the industry, while also giving them a better understanding of the industries’ hiring practices, especially in regards to working abroad. During this one-week program, participants will have the opportunity to visit companies such as Industrial Light and Magic, Moving Picture Company, Method, Digital Domain and Double Negative. Representatives from these studios will meet with us to discuss their roles in the creative process and share their professional experiences. We will also meet with human resources representatives and recruiters to discuss topics such as work visas, negotiating contracts, and preparing your reel.

Tuition includes: Double-occupancy hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the airport and all studio visits, and welcome dinner. Airfare not included.

Note: Guest speakers are subject to change.
