SATURDAY, JUNE 3

7:30PM: Welcoming dinner & brief orientation

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 4

9AM-12 PM: Introduction to the intensive course: use of journaling; creation of theme-based portfolio (4 creative writing pieces, 3 visual art pieces, 3-5 short response essays, one long essay on Taos experience with writing and multimedia) and final presentation/ performance; handouts. Discussion of themes, writing genre, chosen visual art component, and fusion of writing/visual art/music in

performance. In-class writing exercise,  followed by model workshop.

MONDAY, JUNE 5

9:30AM-11 AM: Presentation on the cultural history of Taos by Michael Knight, former director/current board member of the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, followed by private tour of Wurlitzer Foundation and its art collection (Art from the Taos Moderns – 1940-70s)

2:00PM-3:00 PM: Discussion of individual themes

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 6

9 AM-12 PM: Workshop

2:30PM-4:30 PM: Guided tour of Taos Pueblo

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7

2:30-4 PM: Visit of a gallery, followed by onsite writing in courtyard

9 AM-12 PM: Workshop – Includes one-hour discussion with local fiction/memoir

Day trip to Santa Fe

11 AM–1 PM: Visit to Georgia O’Keefe Museum, including onsite drawing and

journaling in museum patio

Optional: Hike to Williams Lake and visit to the town of Arroyo Seco.
